Xilinx launches new Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA with integrated high-speed connection

Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the global leader in adaptive and intelligent computing, today announced the addition of a unique high-speed new member, Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA, to the Virtex® UltraScale+™ family of products. This is a new high-bandwidth memory (HBM) device capable of transmitting large amounts of data with extremely fast speed, low latency, and very low power consumption. The new Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA integrates a series of truly powerful features, ideal for many of the most demanding applications in data centers and wired and wireless communications.

Compared to discrete commercial memories such as DDR4, Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGAs have significantly improved memory bandwidth and capacity, making them an excellent choice for delay-sensitive workloads. Among these workloads, high-speed data throughput and Fast memory is a key requirement. It combines energy-efficient computing functions with extremely high memory bandwidth and capacity of up to 460GB/s, while using the most advanced PAM4 high-speed transceiver, which can achieve twice the transmission rate compared to mainstream 25G transceivers. The integrated HBM controller and AXI port switch (switch) provide continuous memory access to the entire 16G HBM.

The unique feature of Virtex UltraScale+ HBM FPGA is the integrated AXI port switch (switch). It supports access to any memory location from any AXI port, saving 250,000 lookup tables, 370,000 flip-flops and more than 4W of power consumption. This switch not only reduces the design size and simplifies the design, but also helps to achieve timing closure, accelerate the time to market and reduce operating costs (OPEX).

In addition, the new device also integrates high-speed connections, such as 100G Ethernet, 150G Interlaken, PCIe Gen4, etc. with RS-FEC module, which helps simplify design work and speed up time to market.

Suitable applications for Xilinx's new devices include:

· Computation acceleration: Preprocessing the data is the key to achieving the best performance. Unlike fixed-function computing devices, Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P has adaptive logic and 460GB/s HBM bandwidth, which can select, convert, and organize data to optimize input for the target accelerator. Using its high-speed PAM4 transceiver, Xilinx's new FPGAs help maximize throughput and system performance.

A new generation of firewalls: Network operators need non-disruptive, high-reliability network availability to achieve intelligent management, while ensuring data security and preventing malware from attacking corporate networks. Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGAs provide unequalled scalability for multi-layer network security with tens of millions of concurrent sessions at line rates. With 16G HBM, security applications can manage multiple lookup tables while buffering and reordering network flows. The 58G PAM4 transceiver supports the latest optical communication standards, enabling higher throughput required by next-generation firewalls.

·Switches and routers with QoS function: Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGA with 16G HBM provides Nx400G/200G/100G/50G switching, equipped with 400G data path pipeline and traffic manager for QoS function. The 58G PAM4 transceiver can establish connections using the latest optical communication standards, doubling the transmission rate for external devices. The lookup table and traffic manager queue are implemented in HBM DRAM. Because the power/heat dissipation requirements are fully considered in the design, switches and routers based on Virtex UltraScale+ VU57P FPGAs can choose a capless package to achieve higher performance with a simpler heat dissipation method, which is of great significance for data centers and telecommunications infrastructure.
